Photo to 3D model for printing

Turning a photo into a 3D model for printing takes one uploaded image and a few minutes of waiting. Flowless generates the model, lets you adjust the part on a virtual bed and exports a 3MF to slice and print. It works for makers and for anyone selling printed parts.

What you can do with the photo and the file

  • A 3D model from one photo

Upload a photo or artwork and Flowless generates the 3D mesh. You can also start from a text description if you have no image yet.

  • A file ready for your slicer

Generated parts download as 3MF or, when the 3MF is not available, as STL. If you already have a model, the 3D Space opens .stl, .3mf and .glb files and exports to 3MF.

  • Separate colors for multi-material printing

Paint the part from an image or a description and pick the palette. The 3MF comes out with colors separated for printers with several filaments.

  • Adjust on the bed before you print

Measure the part with clicks, cut it with joints when it does not fit your printer bed, and check the result before spending filament.

  • From file to order

If you sell printed parts, the same system covers point of sale, catalog, sales and reports. The 3D project stays saved and available to your team.

From photo to print file

  1. Upload the photo

Pick a photo or artwork of the part. You see the price in credits on screen before you confirm the generation.

  2. Generate and adjust the model

The 3D model appears in the gallery. Open it on the bed, add color, measure and cut it the way your printer needs.

  3. Download the file and print

Export the file, open it in your slicer and send it to the printer.

What is inside the 3D Space

  • Generate from an image or text

A photo or a description becomes a 3D model, as a draft with geometry only or as a complete one with texture and colors.

  • Open .stl, .3mf and .glb files

The file is read in your browser and shown on a bed sized to your machine, with no upload wait.

  • Split by color, cut and measure

Divide the part by color, cut it with joints and measure it with clicks.

  • Ready-to-print templates

Parametric parts, such as the PIX payment plaque with a QR code, where you adjust text, size and colors and download the file.

Photo to 3D and image to STL: common questions

How do I turn a photo into a 3D model for printing?

In the Flowless 3D Space you upload the photo, confirm the generation and get the 3D model. Then you can open the part on the bed, adjust it and download the file for your slicer.

Can I convert an image to STL?

A generated part downloads as 3MF. When the 3MF is not available for that part, the file comes as STL, with the .stl extension. The 3D Space also opens STL, 3MF and GLB files and exports to 3MF.

Do I need 3D modeling skills?

Not to generate the part: a photo is enough. To adjust it, the 3D Space has tools to measure, cut and split by color. You check the result before printing.

How much does it cost to generate a 3D model?

Generation uses prepaid credits, and the price shows on screen before you confirm. Opening, measuring, cutting and exporting a file you already have costs no credits. Generating parts is part of the Professional plan.

Does the model come out in several colors?

Yes. You can color the part from an image or description and generate the 3MF with separated colors for multi-material printers. Those steps also use credits.

Can I use Flowless to sell printed parts?

Yes. Besides the 3D Space, Flowless has point of sale, catalog, sales, expenses, fees and reports to run the sale of your parts.
